Questions About Your Billing Statement or Account?
Bangor Hydro mentions returned payment fees and collection charges in the Terms and Conditions, but no specific fees are listed. Further information is available from customer service at 1-800-499-6600.
How The Penalty Fees Work
Bangor Hydro does not list their penalty fees online and their customer service did not release this information to non customers. We speculate that you will have to pay a percentage of your bill as a late fee. It is possible you will have to pay a fee to have your service reconnected if it has been suspended for nonpayment. You may also have to pay a deposit to restore your service. You may have to pay a fee if your payment is returned by your bank.
I Can’t Make A Payment
Bangor Hydro will work with you to extend the payment due date if you let them know what is going on as soon as possible before the due date. If you qualify as low income, you may be eligible to receive a special discounted rate on your electric bill that will make it easier to pay. Rates are more lenient if you have someone under 24 or older than 60 in your home. To find out more about the requirements, visit the low income page.
