How the Penalty Fees Work
Charlotte Mecklenburg Utilities charges you fees and service charges on a monthly basis as well as a per instance basis. The fees include:
Availability fee – This charge is assed to every customer on a monthly basis. The charge depends on the size of the meter, but is approximately $2.25.
Fixed fee – The fixed fee is $2.40 per month.
Late payment – When Charlotte Mecklenburg Utilities receives your payment past the due date, you are charged a fee equal to 1.5% of the past due amount.
Reconnection – In order to reconnect service, you will pay a $58 fee.
