What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your Drive Financial Bill
Drive Financial was one of the leading subprime auto loan companies in the United States. The auto finance company headquarters was located in Texas, but customers could utilize the financial services of Drive Financial in 35 of 50 states. In 2006, Santander Consumer purchased Drive Financial and began controlling the loans owed the company. Customers with loans established with Drive Financial will now have to deal directly with Santander Consumer financial company to pay the remaining balance of the loan. Santander Consumer still uses the Drive name on the official loan website.
How to Pay the Bill
Drive Financial offers several options for customers to make bill payment quick and efficient.
Pay online: You can pay your Drive Financial bill online at https://myaccount.santanderconsumerusa.com/Login.aspx. The link leads to the login for Santander Consumer. If you don’t have your login information, contact customer service at 1-888-222-4227 for details about your account or click the Sign Me Up link below the login to register for account access.
Pay by phone: Customers can call 1-888-222-4227 to make a payment by phone. There is a fee of $10.95 per each phone payment and credit to your account can take as long as two days to post.
Pay by mail: Drive Financial customers should have received notification of the loan change. The notification should include the new mailing address for payments. If you don’t have the address, mail your payment made out to Santander Consumer USA to:

Pay with MoneyGram: Customers can visit any MoneyGram location to pay the Drive Financial bill. There will be a service fee charged for making a payment. The service fee typically ranges from $9.95 to $10.40. You will need to provide several pieces of information to MoneyGram to process payment. These include: Receive Code – 1544, Account Number – Your auto loan account number, Company Name – Santander and City/State – Dallas, TX.
Pay with Western Union: You can visit the Western Union website or call 1-800-325-6000 to make your payment. You’ll need the Code City in addition to your account number and the Company State Code. The Code City is Pitstop and the Company State Code is TX.

How the Penalty Fees Work
As a Drive Financial customer, you may be responsible for late payment fees, returned payment fees and interest charges. These fees are based on your terms and conditions and the state in which your auto loan was originated.
- Auto Loan Interest: The interest charge on your Drive Financial loan is determined by several factors, including credit score. Check your terms and conditions or loan paperwork for the interest rate on your loan.
- Late Payment: If you make a late payment to your Drive Financial account, you will be charged a late payment fee. The amount of this fee is determined by state laws. Contact customer service to determine your late payment fee.
I Can’t Make a Payment
If you owe an auto loan payment and you are unable to make that payment, contact customer service at 1-888-222-4227. The customer service representative can work with you to bring your account current or work out a payment plan to reduce the past due balance.
- Extended payment option: Some Drive Financial customers are eligible for a payment shift. Shifting the payment to a later date in the month may make it easier to pay the bill on-time.
- Skip a payment: In some cases, Santander Consumer USA will allow auto loan customers to skip a payment. The payment is moved to the end of the loan.
