Green Mountain Energy operates in Texas and New York. Some of the payment options are available in both states, so make sure to use the proper payment options for your Green Mountain Energy account. Green Mountain Energy operates as Con Edison in New York. Con Edison payment options may be different than Green Mountain Energy payment options.

Mail: Customers in Texas and New York can mail personal check and money order payments. New York customers should mail payments to Con Edison, not Green Mountain Energy.

Online: You can pay your Green Mountain Energy bill online with account access. Registration for online access is free as is online bill payment. Phone: Phone payments are accepted at 1-866-785-4668. You can pay with a checking account or credit card. There is a $5.95 fee for making payment by phone.

In Person: In person payments are processed at CheckFree locations. Customers can find a local payment center via the CheckFree website.

How the Penalty Fees Work

Green Mountain Energy is a business and thus they charge fees for late payments, returned checks and other account infractions.

  • Late payment fee: Green Mountain Energy will charge your account 5% of the past due balance as a late charge. If you make a partial payment, you will be charged the 5% again the following month on any rollover amount.

  • Budget billing: Also known as levelized billing, customers are billed the same amount each month based on usage during the previous 12 months.

If Green Mountain Energy supplies energy for heating and cooling in your home, you may qualify for the LIHEAP home energy assistance program. You must meet income guidelines to qualify.

  1. i have been trying to register in order to pay online but have been unable to. also have been unable to get through by phone. how am i supposed to pay my bill?

I am trying to pay my bills and I am working but I am also try to get on disability because I had a couple years ago and because of that I can’t work full time and the doctors don’t want me working at all but I have to.My daughter has been laid off so, I am the only trying to pay the bills.I am also working with State of Vermont VocRehab. in St. Albans to help me find a job under my disability.I have never paid a $118.00,$112.96 etc. in the hopuse before till Green Mountain over,I don’t know what is going on.We are never home during the day and the only things that is plug in is the Refrig.,stove and the washer and dryer and we don’t use the dryer that much and the oven either and it is only two of us here.On May 28,2014 you are shutting my electic off,I do plan on paying it but I can’t come up with the full amount of $112.26. Is there anyway we can work something out so, my electic dosen’t get shut off? Hope to heard from someone soon.

  3. You say you will help I cant pay for two days until I get paid and there is nothing you can do.   4. They only help insomuch as they tell you that you can call 211 and ask for state help which takes months and doesn’t resolve the issue.

  5. They posted my disconnection notice to be on a Friday once and disconnected it on Wednesday morning. When I called them to find out what was going on they told me that they had it in their system to disconnect that day. I told them that my notice was for Friday not Wednesday. They apologized but did not admit to their mistake and did not turn my lights back on. And of course they went and corrected it afterward. I was not looking to wait for the last minute to pay but unfortunately I would not have the money until Friday. I had my food go bad and my 3 kids under the age of 7 in a home with no electricity. Even after explaining that to them they could not work with me.

  6. Green Mountain should be reported to the TPUC. Today I paid my bill online, the exact amount stated as DUE, yet as soon as the payment was made another charge fo 4.44 popped up. A late fee from another month they say, a computer glitch they say. Well I say TRY TO READ your bill and good luck. I even tried to review the past three months. GM make it impossible to see how your payment is applied and IF I have to montor their SYSTEM each month for “Glitches and thoss Glitches benefit them, I will call TPUC. GM you have been WARNED.
