How the Penalty Fees Work

Customers facing their due date without means of making a full payment, may incur penalty fees.

  • Late payment fee: 5% of the total past due balance.
  • Termination and delinquent charges: When an account is seriously past due, KCMO may charge additional termination and delinquent fees.

KCMO, or Kansas City Water Services, offers a company-specific program for low-income residents. This program is not available to everyone, so if you are having trouble making your payment on-time, it is best to contact customer service immediately for payment arrangements.   • Kansas City Water Services Customer Assistance Program: Customers should contact the help hotline at 2-1-1 for more information on this program. Customers must meet income guidelines and have an income at or below 185% of the federal poverty limit. The maximum benefit from this program is $500. In order to receive the benefit, customers must have made a personal payment within the last 90 days.
