How the Penalty Fees Work

Mississippi Power charges penalty fees if a customer does not remit payment by the date listed on the bill. Customers can contact the service department for more information on penalty fees if desired.

  • Late payment fee: $4 if total amount due is more than $5.
  • Reconnection: $40 (normal business hours), $100 (after normal business hours), $50 (at the meter) and $75 (at the pole).
  • Collection fee: $15 if payment is collected at the billing address.

LIHEAP: The low-income heating program from the Department of Human Services is available to customers meeting certain income guidelines. Contact the customer service department or your local Department of Human Services for more information on LIHEAP.

  1. I’m asking for atleast a few additional days to pay my bill I lost my job and is waiting on money to hit my account to pay my full bill
