Nationwide offers several standard options for paying your car insurance bill.
- Set up an automatic deduction from your checking or savings account, or from a debit or credit card.
- Log into your online account to pay your Nationwide car insurance bill online.
- To pay by telephone, call 1-877-On Your Side. You can use your debit or credit card, or arrange an EFT payment from your checking of savings account.

How The Penalty Fees Work
There are no penalty fees for late payments, but if automatic payments are set to come out of your bank account and the money is not there, you will be charged and insufficient funds fee by the bank. Before that happens, make arrangements with the insurance company to stop or delay the charge.
I Can’t Make A Payment
You pay one month in advance when you start a new policy and you will be covered until that month runs out, so that give you a little breathing room. At the end of that month, you must make a payment or your policy will expire. By law, car insurance companies must report expired policies to the state, and the state will invalidate the driver’s license of the lead policyholder.
Will They Work With Me To Pay My Bill?
Nationwide offers a lot of discounts for drivers that you may not have updated, including things like accident-free, good student, long term policyholder, and members of affiliated organizations. Update your policy to be sure you’re getting all the discounts you’re entitled to. You may also consider dropping or lowering some coverages or raising deductibles in order to lower your payments. You can always add them back in later. Nationwide may also be willing to split your payment into smaller, more affordable chunks, or change your due date for a better budget schedule.
