How the Penalty Fees Work
No auto loan company reveals the late payment or returned payment fees charged to customer accounts. This is because most contracts are unique and often state laws change so penalty fees must also change. Contact customer service at 1-800-770-8234 for a complete list of penalty fees associated with your auto loan.
Penalty fees for auto loan and finance companies are different than those for utility companies. Each auto loan is unique. A customers with pristine credit may have a contract that states payments can be made late without penalty. However, the average loan agreement lists penalty fees for late payment, returned payment and collection if the auto loan is not paid for a significant period of time. If the car is repossessed, the buyer is responsible for the loan.
