What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your Century Link Bill

Century Link is one of United States largest providers of voice service, cable and Internet services. Through mergers and acquisitions, Century Link has grown from modest beginnings to the third largest telecommunications provider in the nation.

How to Pay Your Bill

Pay online: Customers can pay your Century Link bill online by visiting https://eam.centurylink.com/eam/login.do.

Recurring payments: This service allows your Century Link to be automatically deducted from your checking or saving account on a monthly basis.

One-time payment: Customers that want to pay their Century Link one-time online can use this service. Century Link charges a convenience fee for one-time payments.

Pay by phone: You can pay your Century Link by phone by calling 1-866-723-8010. You will need your account information as well as an acceptable payment method. There is no convenience fees associated with paying your Century Link bill by phone.

Pay by mail: You can mail payments to:

Pay in person: You can pay your Century Link bill in person by visiting a local office or an authorized pay agent. The third-party pay agents charge convenience fees with every transaction.

How the Penalty Fees Work

Century Link assesses fees for reconnection of service, late payment and returned checks. The customer service representative we spoke to informed us that some customer may be required to pay a security deposit, depending on their credit worthiness.

Reconnections fees – The fee associated with reconnecting service depends on the state. The prices range from $12 to $35.

Late payment fee – Century Link charges a 1.5% late payment fee for balances carried over past the due date.

Returned check fee – In the event your payment is returned to the bank for insufficient funds, Century Link charges a fee of $25.

I Can’t Make a Payment

When we spoke to the customer service agent concerning assistance programs, they only informed us of one, payment arrangements. Century Link offers specific guidelines associated with the arrangements.

  • Account must be past the due date.
  • The account must be more than 90 days old.
  • Payment arrangements are for past due balances and not current amounts.
  • Late fees will continue until the past due balance is paid in full.
  • If the payment is not received by the predetermined date, the payment agreement is null and void.

  1. I am being contacted by a company called convergent about an old bill from qwest. Qwest is willing to cut my bill in half to settle the bill,however I will not be able to pay this amount till the 2nd of March. I have tried calling them but can’t get them to stay on the line long enough to explain my situation. I am wanting some help on this matter. Either through Century link or Convergent.

  2. i tried friday to pay my bill by phone 6 times & was unable to,without being sent back to a customer service rep that would charge me $4.00.on saturday i went on line to pay my bill & after
    1 hour of being jerked around,i was never able to pay it.i went &
    tried by phone again for 45 min.& got the same response as friday.it seems that you are trying to force customers to pay an additional $4.00 to PAY THEIR BILLS.SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Why does centurylink make it so hard to pay on line? Why can’t it be simple like the other bills I pay on line? A lot of times I can’t even get to my account. I hope you change it and make it simle like me.

  4. ‘Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in Advanced settings’ is the message every time I tried to access Quick Bill Pay (eam.centurylink.com/eam/qbp/identify.do). These settings are set so there should be no problems why I cannot pay my phone bill. Had to resort to pay via phone – and even then, I have seen many different phone numbers to dial to make a payment – really confusing. Please do not respond – I do not want an email response. Just fix the problem. Thank you

I am trying to setup a new service with them and they said that I owe on my last account with them and gave me the collection agency’s phone number and I called them and they don’t have a record of it and I swear we had paid it off but the person’s whose credit card used, I don’t speak to anymore. I have no way of proving it was paid off and I really don’t want to pay them again. its annoying
