What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your Dell Bill
Dell is one of the leaders in consumer computers and electronics. The retail store offers in-house financing with variable interest rates and credit limits. When you access your Dell Preferred account online, you can place orders using Dell credit, view previous statements and make online payments.
How to Pay the Bill
Online: You can pay your Dell bill online at https://dfs.us.dell.com/Pages/DFSHomePage.aspx. You must enroll online for account access. Once enrolled, you can setup recurring payments, make a one-time payment or export information from bills and payments to Quicken.
Auto Pay: The Auto Pay program from Dell connects your Dell Preferred account with a payment method of your choice. Each month, your Dell payment is deducted from the payment method on the due date. If money is not available in the account, you will be charged a return payment fee from Dell and, possibly, your bank or credit card. Contact 1-512-283-1854 for more information on the Auto Pay program. Past due accounts cannot be placed on Auto Pay.
Mail: Check payments are accepted at:
Dell Preferred Account
Payment Processing Center
Po Box 6403

Phone: If you want to make a fast payment to Dell, call 1-800-283-2210 and select option 2. You must have your 19-digit account number to make a phone payment. If you need payment to be expedited, Dell will charge $14.95 for the service.
Questions About Your Billing Statement or Account?
Understanding the fees and charges on your Dell bill is crucial. The Dell Billing FAQs page provides information on PPT fees, account name changes and return policies. Very little information is listed on specific fees, so you can request additional information from the customer service department at 1-800-624-9897.
How Penalty Fees Work
Dell is quick to charge penalty fees if customers are late making payments. The company has been known to take payments by phone after normal business hours on the due date and charge the customer a late payment fee because the payment was not processed until the following day. Customers must contact Dell directly if they wish to prevent penalty fees.
- Late payment fee: Up to $35
- Returned payment fee: Up to $35
- Minimum interest rate: $2
- APR: From 19.99% to 29.99%
I Can’t Make a Payment
If you can’t pay your Dell bill, contact customer service at 1-800-283-2210. Avoiding calls from Dell will result in the account being placed with a collection agency. A representative will call your home multiples times every day. If you continue to avoid calls, the collection agency will call your home and attempt to retrieve the full balance on the account. If payment is not made to the collection agency, Dell will send local officials to your home to recover the equipment and charge additional fees for the recovery.
