How the Penalty Fees Work

When it comes to charging penalty fees, customers may be more worried about the early termination fees than the late payment fees. While we found no reference to late payment fees and returned payment fees, we’re sure those exist for Hughes Network Systems. We did, however, find a list of early termination fees. Customers must sign a 24-month contract with the company before service is started.

Early Termination Fee:

  • Cancel during first 30 days: $99 lease fee not refunded. $300 equipment fee if equipment is not returned.

  1. Pay 92.00 every month and the net is still slow as crap. I am telling u charter is a lot better at least they have speed that don’t slow down in the middle or end of the month…

  2. I want a paper bill starting now. It is a joke about being able to access your web site. I am constantly told I am not a customer.

  3. I can’t get a billing address from Hughes; I bought 1 yr; they told me 2 years now without my signing & their located in Mexico. Their office is in Germantown, MD outside DC. How do you set up bill pay at our bank when there is NO US billing? The guy who answered sounded extremely nervous when I mentioned lawyer.

    • I haven’t tried yet but these companies are corrupt: TRY THIS: GERMANTOWN, Maryland 20876 Phone: 301-428-5500 or 1-866-293-8945

  4. I might add, I just called their DC office, the guy acted as paraniod as the one in Mexico, when all I asked was where do I send a bill payment? What’s the zipcode? My bank needs it. This is a scam of corruption.

  5. I have never experienced such a group of crooks !! They tell you the charge is $49.50, but then they add the fees & the bill without taxes is $89.50 !! Also no one ever said that you are locked into a 2 year agreement & it costs $400.00 to get out of it. I have never, in 3 months, had a speed over 3 & I pay for up to 15 !! This is far from fair, I am on Social Security & cannot afford this. No one cares …… all I was told was That I should have read the fine print!! BUYER BEWARE ………

  6. I have never had a problem with Hughesnet. We have had them about 11/2 yrs. and they seem pretty helpful when I call in and I admit I have been late more than several times. We have a agreement, they leave my internet on when I pay the bill, but they have worked with me more than several times. So I have not complaints with them so far.

  7. I can not change billings on their web site and to receive a paper bill they want $5 more; service has been terrible ; I am sure there are other internet providers out there

  8. How about double billing. Has anyone had that I have. I wanted an extention till the 3 of next month and was told no because that would make me two months behind. So if I can not pay by the 24 of this month I would lose my service.
