What to Do When You Can’t Pay Your SAFECO Bill

SAFECO is an insurance company based in Seattle, Washington with offices in more than 15 states, the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. The company offers insurance policy for watercrafts, home, auto and umbrella policies. SAFECO offers discounts including:

  • Good Driver – 20%
  • Student – 15%
  • Anti-theft devices – 10% to 20%
  • Occasional driver – 5%
  • Multiple policy – 15%

How to Pay the Bill

SAFECO provides customers with convenient options for customers to pay your bill. The available options include online payment, phone payments, in-person payments, payments by mail and automatic deductions. Customers have the ability to make payments using your credit or debit card, checking or savings account, check and electronic check.

Pay online: Customers can pay your SAFECO bill online by visiting https://customer.safeco.com/accountservices/login.aspx?hdnOriginalURL=none&hdnCookieDetectionComplete=TRUE. The service is free and only requires customers sign into your online account. You have the ability to make payments using your credit or debit card.

Pay by phone: Customers can pay your SAFECO bill by calling customer service at 1-888-723-3260. You have the ability to pay your SAFECO bill with a credit card, debit card or electronic check. This service is free to SAFECO customers.

Automatic deductions: Customer can pay your SAFECO bill by having the funds automatically deducted from your checking or savings account. This service is free for SAFECO customers.

Pay in person: Customers can pay your SAFECO bill at your local office. The complete list is available on the SAFECO website. SAFECO does not charge a convenience fee with in-person payments.

How the Penalty Fees Work

SAFECO charges fees to customers on a monthly basis as well as on a non-recurring basis. When we asked a customer service representative to explain the fees, they declined. The only information they disclosed was that the company charges the following fees:

  • Late payment
  • Security deposit
  • Teen Safe Driver

I Can’t Make a Payment

SAFECO did not provide us with any information regarding assistance programs for customers that can’t pay your bill. When we spoke to customer service, they explained that customers should call 1-888-723-3260 prior to your payment due date. You may have the option of setting your SAFECO bill up on a payment arrangement. They explained that payment arrangements are charged convenience fees.
